History
1995
The National Citizen Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB), originally established as Song Kien Bank, was founded in 1995 under License No. 00057/NH-CP dated September 18, 1995, issued by the State Bank of Vietnam. Transitioning from a rural to an urban banking model, adopted the name Nam Viet Joint Stock Commercial Bank—Navibank. In 2014, after 28 years of growth, it was officially renamed to its current designation, NCB, progressively strengthening its brand within the Vietnamese financial and monetary markets.
2014
Navibank was officially rebranded as National Citizen Commercial Joint Stock Bank - NCB, undertaking a system restructuring to standardize and refine our financial services. NCB set a goal to rank among Vietnam's top 10 leading retail banks, committed to becoming the "top-performing retail bank" in the nation.
2015
NCB unveiled a new brand identity and was honored with international awards for innovation, including 'The Most Innovative Bank for Enterprise Culture Vietnam 2015' and 'The Most Innovative Retail Bank Vietnam 2015' by Global Banking & Finance Review.
2016
NCB deployed a new IT infrastructure - the Temenos T24 core banking platform; Signed a strategic contract with Prevoir for life insurance through the bank, Expanded the network from 22 to 24 branches; Increased the total assets to over 69 trillion VND.
2017
NCB was focused on developing a comprehensive digital banking platform with a range of products (NCB mobile application, bill pay, money transfer, etc.).
2018
NCB expanded the customer ecosystem through strategic collaborations with key partners like FLC Group and Bamboo Airways, etc. NCB continued to be recognized with prestigious national and international awards.
2019
NCB transformed its operational, business, and service models, which aims for comprehensive digitalization. Along with traditional distribution channels, NCB also invested in Digital Banking by developing its products and services deployed on the Digital Banking platform for customers, such as: Open an account and opening a savings account online, bill payment and automatic bill payment, 24/7 money transfer on mobile application, QR code payments, online shopping, and notably, applied artificial intelligence to build a customer service chatbot.
2020
NCB carried out a vertical restructuring of its business operations. Concurrently, NCB has proactively digitized the system with the introduction of the NCB IziMobile application, which aims to enhance the customer experience, and by implementing operational support system softwares, namely the CAR41 software, Core Card system, and the LO5-30 system.
2021
In 2021, NCB continued to implement numerous digital transformation projects aimed at enhancing service quality and improving customer experience, including the application of the eKYC procedure for account opening, cash withdrawals via QR code scanning, as well as upgrades for the core card system, among others. NCB and Sun Group also entered into a comprehensive cooperation agreement for the goal of sustainable development.
